Fred Hughes joined the firm in February of 2003. He is formerly of Tafaro & Flynn, the New Providence-based complex medical malpractice defense and health care litigation firm. Fred has six years of experience in all aspects of civil litigation, with a concentration in complex medical malpractice defense, professional liability defense and appeals.
Fred has considerable experience in arbitrating and trying personal injury defense cases and negotiating settlements. He has extensive trial preparation experience in complex medical malpractice cases, where his responsibilities have included deposing fact and expert witnesses, defending client and expert depositions, preparing motions, preparing all written discovery responses, and negotiating settlements. He also has experience in writing and arguing appeals before the Appellate Division.
Prior to entering private law practice, Fred clerked with Judge Alexander Menza, Superior Court, Civil Law Division; and Judge Scott Moynihan, Superior Court, Chancery Division, Family Part.
