Monica Vir joined the firm in September, 2003. She concentrates her practice in business transactions, banking law, real estate, and health care law.
In general business, she represents clients in the purchase and sale of businesses and business assets, the formation of business entities, and the debt and equity financing of businesses. In real estate, she represents clients in the purchase, sale, leasing, subleasing, and financing of office and retail properties, as wells as representing commercial and residential clients in real property tax appeals. In health care, Monica advises many types of healthcare providers, including physician groups and individual physicians, acute care hospitals, nonprofit healthcare agencies, and assisted living providers, in connection with group formation and dissolution; employment agreements; fraud and abuse and "Stark" issues; and on other commercial, general corporate, and compliance issues. Monica advises non-profit charitable organizations in their formation and application for IRS tax exemption recognition, and other corporate governance and compliance issues. She has also represented clients seeking guardianships.
As a law student, she published "The Blame Game: Can Internet Service Providers Be Held Liable for Semantic Attacks?" in the Rutgers Computer and Technology Law Journal (29 Rutgers Comp Tech L.J. 193 (2003)). She also served as a legal intern with Honorable Alfred J. Lechner, Jr., U. S. District Court, District of New Jersey (ret.) and with our firm.
Prior to law school, Monica was a business analyst with American Management Systems, Inc.
