Automotive Law

General Description: Our automotive attorneys provide counseling and litigation services for large and small companies in the automotive industry. Our clients include major European manufacturers, importers, local dealers, and trade associations.

In the litigation area, we defend manufacturers, distributors, and dealers against major product liability claims, breach of warranty and "lemon law" actions. We represent manufacturers and distributors in dealer disputes, including litigation over franchise terminations and protests by existing dealers to the appointment of new dealers. We also represent our clients in general commercial litigation.

The firm serves as General Counsel to two of its automotive clients and as Regional Coordinating Counsel to another. As such, we supervise and administer the client's litigation caseload throughout the United States or the Eastern United States respectively. In addition, we serve as local counsel for several other automotive enterprises in New Jersey.

  • general counseling on licensing requirements and franchise practices in the 50 states
  • reviewing advertising and promotional materials for legal compliance
  • supervision and oversight of national and regional trademark enforcement
  • preparation of sales and financing documents
  • advice and consultation on product liability and safety matters
  • preparation of warranty booklets and literature
  • preparation and review of franchise agreements, distribution agreements, and other documents used in the importation and distribution of vehicles
