{"id":2329,"date":"2016-09-22T12:46:43","date_gmt":"2016-09-22T16:46:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lindabury.com\/firm\/?p=2329"},"modified":"2022-01-10T15:34:22","modified_gmt":"2022-01-10T20:34:22","slug":"morristown-new-jersey-adopts-paid-sick-leave-ordinance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lindabury.com\/firm\/insights\/morristown-new-jersey-adopts-paid-sick-leave-ordinance.html","title":{"rendered":"Morristown New Jersey Adopts Paid Sick Leave Ordinance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As the State legislature continues to debate the merits and the provisions of a comparable state law governing paid sick leave, Morristown has\u00a0moved forward.\u00a0 Morristown now becomes the 13<sup>th<\/sup> municipality in New Jersey to adopt a paid sick leave ordinance that is applicable to all non-union, non-governmental employers operating within its city limits.<\/p>\n<p>The Morristown ordinance is very similar to one that was earlier adopted by the City of Newark.\u00a0 It provides that all employers who have employees working in Morristown for at least 80 hours in a given benefit year, <em>except<\/em> any governmental employees or members of a construction union covered by a collective bargaining agreement, are obligated to comply with\u00a0 the ordinance that provides:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Employees accrue one hour of paid sick time for every 30 hours worked.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"read_more_link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lindabury.com\/firm\/insights\/morristown-new-jersey-adopts-paid-sick-leave-ordinance.html\"  title=\"Continue Reading Morristown New Jersey Adopts Paid Sick Leave Ordinance\" class=\"more-link\">Continue Reading \u203a<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As the State legislature continues to debate the merits and the provisions of a comparable state law governing paid sick leave, Morristown has\u00a0moved forward.\u00a0 Morristown now becomes the 13th municipality in New Jersey to adopt a paid sick leave ordinance that is applicable to all non-union, non-governmental employers operating within its city limits.
