{"id":5642,"date":"2024-12-06T14:23:22","date_gmt":"2024-12-06T19:23:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lindabury.com\/firm\/?p=5642"},"modified":"2024-12-06T14:23:22","modified_gmt":"2024-12-06T19:23:22","slug":"preliminary-injunction-of-cta-and-what-it-means-for-reporting-companies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lindabury.com\/firm\/insights\/preliminary-injunction-of-cta-and-what-it-means-for-reporting-companies.html","title":{"rendered":"Preliminary Injunction of CTA and What it Means for Reporting Companies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On December 3, 2024 the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas granted a nationwide preliminary injunction, enjoining the enforcement of the Corporate Transparency Act (\u201cCTA\u201d) and staying its reporting deadline.<\/p>\n<p>Congress passed the CTA in January of 2021, and it became effective on January 1, 2024. The CTA required companies deemed as \u201creporting companies\u201d to report personal information about their beneficial owners to FinCEN, a bureau within the United States Department of the Treasury tasked with combatting money laundering, terrorist financing, and other financial crimes.
