James McGlew II concentrates his practice in the area of divorce and family law and is Co-Chair of the Lindabury Divorce & Family Law Practice Group. He has extensive experience representing individual litigants, both at the trial and appellate level, on issues of custody, visitation, alimony and child support, equitable distribution and related issues, as well as the negotiation of marital settlement and prenuptial agreements.
For over 30 years, Jim has served as a Panelist/Mediator on the Matrimonial Early Settlement Panel in Union County. The panel is made up of experienced matrimonial and family law attorneys whose primary practice is divorce and family law. The goal of the Early Settlement Panel, and the Panelists who volunteer, is to assist litigants in equitably settling their issues in the most cost-effective manner whenever possible.
Jim’s skill and experience as a divorce attorney have been recognized by the Bench by his judicial appointments to serve as a Mediator, Discovery Master and Receiver in divorce litigation.
Jim is a frequent lecturer and has been a presenter at various Family Law seminars hosted by the Union County Bar Association. The topics of his seminar presentations are varied and wide-ranging and have included Prosecuting and Defending Marital Torts in Divorce Proceedings as well as the Relocation of Children Out-of-State by the Custodial Parent.
In addition to serving as the Chair of the firm’s Divorce & Family Law practice, Jim also serves as a member of Lindabury’s Alternate Dispute Resolution Group, where he manages his private divorce mediation practice. Jim is a Court-approved mediator and has extensive experience working with both parties to achieve an amicable settlement without the expense and rancor of protracted litigation.
Jim is an active member of the Union County legal community and is a former President and Trustee of the Union County Bar Association. He is a member of the Union County Bar Association’s Family Law Committee and has served as a member of the Union County Judicial and Prosecutorial Appointment Committee as well as the Nominating and Activities Committees.
Jim is a former Chairman of the District XII Ethics Committee of the New Jersey Supreme Court and a former Trustee of the Union County Legal Services Corporation.
