Nicole Kobis is a Partner in the firm’s Divorce and Family Law group who works tirelessly for her clients as they navigate the challenges of divorce. Nicole partners with her clients and uses her experience to help them make difficult decisions arising from a complex, emotionally-charged life change.
Nicole dedicates her practice to the area of matrimonial law and advises clients on matters involving divorce, custody, spousal support, child support, equitable distribution and domestic violence. She is experienced in negotiating and drafting marital settlement agreements for use in uncontested divorce matters. Nicole is well versed in drafting complex pre and post judgment motions as well as non-dissolution applications. She also helps clients prior to their marriages in drafting and reviewing prenuptial agreements.
Nicole is an accredited New Jersey family and divorce mediator, and is skilled at working with divorcing parties so they can achieve amicable resolutions. She is also frequently appointed by the Court as a guardian ad litem for children in contested custody matters and as an attorney for alleged incapacitated individuals in guardianship proceedings. Nicole is also trained in collaborative law.
Nicole is Co-Chair of the Union County Bar Association's Family Law Committee. She is also an Early Settlement Panelist in Union County, volunteering her time to assist litigants and other attorneys in resolving family law disputes.
Prior to joining Lindabury, Nicole served as a law clerk to the Honorable Katherine R. Dupuis, P.J.Ch. of the New Jersey Superior Court in Union County when she was the Presiding Judge of the Family Division. During her clerkship Nicole worked exclusively in family law with a concentration on pre and post judgment matrimonial matters. These matters included issues of child support, alimony, parenting time and equitable distribution. Her experience working as a law clerk provided her a unique perspective into the judicial system, allowing her to provide valuable insight to her clients when developing strategy for their cases.
In 2018, Nicole was recognized by the United Way of Union County for her positive impact on the community by being named their Rising Star Corporate Partner. She also serves as Co-Chair of Lindabury’s Women’s Business Initiative Program. Whether it’s in the courtroom or the local community, Nicole works hard to make a positive impact on people’s lives.
Nicole is a member of the New Jersey Collaborative Law Group, a member of Family Focused Divorce and a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.
